Donald Trump, who was convicted in mid-February in New York for financial fraud within his real estate empire, deposited a $175 million bond on Monday to avoid judicial seizures pending his appeal trial.

On Monday, April 1st, former President Donald Trump submitted a $175 million bond to the American court to prevent judicial seizures of his assets after being fined $454 million for financial fraud, according to a court document made public.

The former President of the United States, who is running for a return to the White House, had until Thursday to submit this bond, covered by an insurance company and equivalent to a bail, in this civil case where he has filed an appeal.

He is set to stand trial starting April 15, this time criminally, in a case involving concealed payments to suppress embarrassing affairs in 2016, a historic first for a former American president.

A New York appeals court had eased the financial pressure on the Republican billionaire a week ago by reducing the bond to $175 million. « I deeply respect the appeals court’s decision, and I will deposit $175 million very quickly, within ten days, » responded the Republican presidential candidate.

Donald Trump was convicted in mid-February along with his sons Eric and Don Jr., fined $454 million for financial fraud within their Trump Organization real estate empire. They were accused of massively inflating their asset values throughout the 2010s to secure more favorable loans from banks.
